The U.S. law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP has announced that Alvin J. Goldman has joined the firm as a partner in the New York office. As a member of Hinshaw’s commercial transactions group, Goldman will focus his practice on sophisticated federal taxation counseling and planning, especially with regards to matters involving partnerships, joint ventures and limited liability companies.

“I’m excited to welcome Alvin to Hinshaw’s team of tax professionals,” said Dean Parker, Practice Group Leader of the firm’s Commercial Transactions Practice Group. “Our clients in New York, Florida, Illinois and nationwide will greatly benefit from his deep experience in serving as lead tax counsel in a series of complex real estate and merger and acquisition transactions.”

 Goldman was previously senior counsel at a global law firm which represented a broad range of businesses and individuals, including prominent financial services firms, insurance companies, multinational companies and emerging and closely held companies. He has a great deal of experience working with foreign individuals and entities who invest in U.S. real estate and businesses. He primarily works with clients in developing tax strategies regarding acquisitions and sales, partnerships and corporations.

“Hinshaw has a dynamic and sophisticated set of clients, with business and transactional objectives that have complex taxation implications,” said Goldman. “I look forward applying my experience and insight to federal taxation problem solving on behalf of their transactional and other legal needs.”

Goldman is a graduate of Columbia Law School (J.D.) and Cornell University (B.A.). He is admitted to practice in New York, Florida, and the U.S. Tax Court. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association Tax Section, Committee on Partnerships and Committee on Real Property, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the American Bar Association.
