Haynes and Boone, SC has announced the arrival of noted tax lawyer Edgar Klee as a new partner in the firm’s Mexico City office.

Klee focuses on offering sophisticated corporate tax advice on international taxation, tax counseling for individuals, legal structuring for acquisition of high value assets (vessels/platforms related to the oil and gas industry), customs and foreign trade, and general tax litigation.

“We are delighted to add Edgar to our growing capabilities here in Mexico City,” said office Administrative Partner Luis Moreno. “His experience with complex tax issues will especially benefit cross-border clients who are entering the Mexican marketplace as our government loosens restrictions on key sectors. Edgar is a great fit for these exciting times.”

Klee, who joins from Turanzas, Bravo & Ambrosi, received his law degree from Universidad Panamericana. He is a member of the Barra Mexicana Colegio de Abogados (Mexican Bar), the Public Accounting Academy for Tax Studies (Academia de Estudios Fiscales de la Contaduria Publica), and the International Fiscal Association (IFA).

He joins the firm as the Mexico City office celebrates 20 years of practice in the region. The fully-integratedMexico City office was established in 1994 and Haynes and Boone is one of the most active U.S. law firms operating in Mexico, serving a growing list of international clientele. It is unique in having permanent senior Mexican lawyers based in its U.S. offices and conversely having an American expatriate working in its Mexico City office, thereby providing integrated working teams from both its U.S. and Mexican platforms.
