Tax Litigator joins Fraser Milner Casgrain

[private]Fraser Milner, the Canadian Law Firm, has hired David Spiro from Blake Cassels.
David practises corporate income and commodity tax litigation in the Tax Court of Canada, Federal Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of Canada and the provincial superior courts. He has extensive experience in international tax disputes and tax treaty questions, tax avoidance issues and statutory interpretation. In addition to the litigation side of his practice, David devotes considerable time resolving controversies at the administrative level with federal and provincial tax authorities.
David is a member of the Tax Court Bench and Bar Committee, the editorial board of Tax Litigation, the Canadian Tax Foundation, International Fiscal Association, The Advocates’ Society, Canadian Bar Association and American Bar Association. He is immediate past co-Chair of the Toronto Centre Canada Revenue Agency & Professionals Consultation Group and was founding Chair of the Tax Litigation Skills Certificate Program at The Advocates’ Society.
David is the author of numerous articles and is a frequent speaker at conferences of the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Ontario Bar Association and Federated Press, among others.
David is “pinpointed for tax controversy excellence” in the International Tax Review supplement World Tax 2009 and is recommended in the 2009 edition of Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business and in PLC Which Lawyer? Yearbook. He is recognized as one of the most frequently recommended corporate tax litigation counsel in The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and is noted as a leading lawyer in corporate tax litigation in The 2009 Lexpert®/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada.[/private]
