Dan Mennel resigns from KPMG to join Grant Thornton’s Strategic Federal Tax Services practice, based in San Jose

Dan Mennel has joined Grant Thornton as a partner in the Firm’s Strategic Federal Tax Services practice, based in San Jose, California.

Mennel has more than 15 years of experience with a focus on matters related to R&D tax credits and incentives, including research and analysis, software development and testing, and defending numerous claims before the IRS. He has worked with clients in a variety of industries, including technology, aerospace, pharmaceutical biotechnology and manufacturing. He has also led integrated R&D projects on international, federal, and state and local tax issues.

“Dan’s broad and deep knowledge of R&D tax matters will be integral in meeting the needs of our dynamic clients throughout the region,” said Donald Corbett, Grant Thornton’s West region Tax Services leader. “His arrival demonstrates our commitment to the continued growth of the Greater Bay Area Tax practice and strengthens our ability to deliver added value through a wide range of service offerings.”

Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Mennel was a managing director with KPMG LLP, working with clients on a variety of complex issues related to R&D. Previously, he served for more than a decade in roles of increasing responsibility for Deloitte LLP and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
