 In Baker Tilly, ICAEW

The ICAEW has announced that Nick Parker has been elected Vice President for 2015/16.

Nick has served as an elected Council member since 1995. During those 19 years he has been a member of the ICAEW Board, chaired its Council for three years and also chaired its Members’ Board during which time ICAEW established the members group in Scotland. Currently he is Chairman of ICAEW’s Audit Committee as well as being a member of the board.

As an ICAEW Chartered Accountant, Nick trained with a small firm in Slough from where he moved to Touché Ross in London, specialising in tax. In the latter part of his career, he worked for Tenon both in Southampton and Edinburgh, practicing as a tax partner. He is currently a tax partner at the Basingstoke office of Baker Tilly. Nick is also involved with the Southern Society of Chartered Accountants (SOSCA) and regularly appears on local media commenting on tax and personal finance issues.

Commenting on his election, Nick Parker said: “I am totally committed to upholding the strong traditions and values of ICAEW whilst at the same time looking to continue the essential and on-going programme of modernisation. As a professional body, ICAEW needs to continue to act in the public interest, maintain standards and the reputation of the profession and ensure that our accountancy qualification is attractive to potential students.”

Current ICAEW President, Arthur Bailey, added, “Nick will be an excellent asset to the current ICAEW office holders team and a worthy president of ICAEW in due course. I’d like to congratulate him and thank his opponent in the election, Nathan Steinberg. We were very lucky to have two great candidates, both of whom bring a huge amount of dedication and enthusiasm to their work on council.”

Nick will serve as Vice-President from June 2015 to June 2016, subject to his formal election at the June Council meeting. He will serve as ICAEW President from June 2017 to June 2018.
