Hay & Kilner has appointed Wealth Management & Tax Planning lawyer, Alice Clewes, as a partner.

Alice, who joined Hay & Kilner 6 years ago, is one of a few solicitors in the region to hold the Chartered Tax Adviser qualification. She is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Alice advises clients on all aspects of private capital work including:

Advising on and drafting Wills
Advising clients on lifetime Inheritance Tax planning which will involve optimising available reliefs and may include the creation of trusts and planning in respect of life policies and pension death benefits
Advising on and preparing powers of attorney and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney and Enduring Powers of Attorney with the Court of Protection
Estate and succession planning including advising on passing assets to the next generation
All aspects of estate administration and advising beneficiaries on redirecting entitlements under Deeds of Variation
Advising on and drafting trusts including trusts to protect assets from attack, trusts to utilise Inheritance Tax reliefs, trusts to pass assets to the next generation and shareholder trusts in respect of cross option agreements
Advising existing trustees on their obligations and responsibilities and assisting in the administration of on-going trusts
Alice is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and a committee member of the North East England branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation where she is involved with arranging the yearly education programme of seminars.
