KPMG Australia announces 6 new tax partners

KPMG in Australia has announced this year’s partner promotions, six of whom are tax specialists:

Jeremy Capes: Tax, Global Transfer Pricing, Sydney

Jeremy joined KPMG in September 2013. Prior to this he spent his career with PwC and has always specialised in transfer pricing. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from the Australian National University.

 

Sarah Dunn: Tax Law, Sydney

Sarah joined KPMG in October 2013. She is a Partner of KPMG Tax Law, KPMG’s tax legal practice where she specialises in assisting clients to prevent, manage and resolve revenue disputes.

Sarah has over 20 years’ commercial litigation experience. Prior to joining KPMG Tax Law, Sarah was a Partner of Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills) in their Commercial Litigation Practice Group for over 11 years. At Freehills Sarah acted for clients in a wide range of disputes across tax, contract and corporations law and in respect of various regulatory reviews and investigations. She has acted for clients in a large number of matters in the Federal Court of Australia, the Supreme Court of New South Wales and various tribunals.

Sarah has extensive experience in dealing with revenue authorities and advising clients at all stages of tax disputes including risk reviews, information requests/demands, audits, objections, GAAR Panel, settlement discussions and contested proceedings.

She has enjoyed considerable success in successfully resolving a large number of significant revenue disputes outside of the court processes (principally for clients in the financial services, energy and resources and media sectors) including transfer pricing and state revenue disputes and matters where the Commissioner has sought to apply Part IVA.

Sarah has been recognized in the AFR Best Lawyers Guide as a leading practitioner in Litigation and Tax and is a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia.

Mardi Heinrich: Tax, International Executive Services, Sydney

Stephen Murphy: Tax, Infrastructure, Sydney

Stephen has worked with KPMG in a number of locations. He started life in Toronto where he progressed to Tax Manager. He then relocated to London office to specialise in international tax. After 3 years he joined Sydney office where was a director. Stephen then moved in house for 8 years, working for Macquarie Capital Funds in London and Sydney. He was a Managing Director at the bank. He returned to KPMG in April 2014.

Kristina Kipper: Tax, R&D Incentives, Sydney

Kristina has been with KPMG since October 2010 specialising in R&D Incentives. Prior to this she spent 11 years with PwC in Australia where she was a Director of Indirect Tax, covering GST and R&D tax issues for her clients.

Simon Clark: Tax, Asia Pacific, Singapore
