Polish law firm GESSEL hires Janusz Fiszer to lead its tax law practice
Dr Janusz Fiszer has joined GESSEL to lead its tax law practice. He specializes in international tax law and tax aspects of M&A transactions.
Since early 90’s he has been associated with White & Case, and from 1998 until 2011 he served as a Partner with the firm. In February 2012 he joined PwC as a partner in their Tax & Legal Services group.
Dr. Fiszer is the author of over 1,100 publications on legal, tax, and financial matters published in the Polish professional journals (“Finanse”, “Pa?stwo i Prawo”, “Przegl?d Podatkowy”, “Monitor Podatkowy”), and international journals (“Tax Notes International”, “Tax News Service”, “East European Business Law”, “European Taxation”, “Intertax”, “Wirschaft und Recht in Osteuropa”). Dr. Fiszer is a co-author of the Commentary on the Law on National Investment Funds and their Privatization. Dr. Fiszer is a long-time correspondent for professional tax journals such as“Tax Notes International”, “Tax News Service”, “East European Business Law”. Dr. Janusz Fiszer is a member of the editorial board of the monthly professional journal “Monitor Podatkowy” and the author of regular tax comments in the daily journal “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna”.
Dr. Janusz Fiszer was a co-founder and the President, subsequently a member, of the Management Board of the Polish branch of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and currently is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Polish branch of the International Fiscal Association. Dr. Fiszer is also a member of the International Tax Planning Association (ITPA). Dr. Fiszer has participated in numerous domestic and foreign conferences and seminars focusing on tax matters. In early 90’s, at the request of the OECD, Dr. Fiszer lectured at the specialized courses concerning international tax law and double taxation treaties, organized by the OECD Committee on Fiscal Affairs for senior tax administration officials from Central and Eastern European countries. Dr. Janusz Fiszer was a member of the 1st and 3rd State Examination Board for Tax Advisors and is a member of the current 5th State Examination Board for Tax Advisors. Dr. Fiszer was elected member of the National Board of Tax Advisors (KRDP) for its first and second term. In this capacity Dr Fiszer participated in the activities of the Confederation Fiscal Europeene (CFE).
