 In PwC

Rohit Kumar, most recently deputy chief of staff to Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, is joining PwC US as a principal and co-leader of the firm’s Tax Policy Services practice in Washington National Tax Services (WNTS), effective September 30th, the firm announced today. Brian Meighan will continue in his role with the group, as co-leader of the practice.

“We are delighted to have Rohit join PwC as co-leader of our tax policy services group,” said Pam Olson, WNTS leader and deputy tax leader for PwC. “US businesses are seeking guidance on tax policy, particularly the need for a tax system that is more stable and that promotes stronger economic growth. Rohit’s intellect, understanding of the political perspectives of policymakers on both sides of the aisle, and stellar reputation will enhance our ability to provide clients with the advice and counsel they need to navigate the uncertain road ahead.”

Kumar’s previous roles demonstrate the breadth and depth of experience he brings to his new role. He joins PwC from the Office of Senate Republican Leader, Mitch McConnell, where he has served as the domestic policy director and most recently as deputy chief of staff. Prior to his role with Senator McConnell, he was director of policy and senior counsel to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. In addition, he was the senior policy advisor and general counsel for Senate Republican Leader Trent Lott. In all of these roles, he has worked in close collaboration with Senate leaders to develop and implement all aspects of domestic policy, including tax, trade, budget and health care.

Kumar received his B.A. in political science and economics from Duke University and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
