Lewis Greenwald joins Tax Transaction & Consulting practice at Mayer Brown

Mayer Brown announced this week that Lewis J. Greenwald has joined the New York office as a partner in the Tax Transactions & Consulting practice. Mr. Greenwald focuses his practice on providing international tax planning for multinational clients.

“Lewis has more than 25 years of experience in advising clients, particularly US-based multinationals, on a wide range of international tax planning matters,” said Jason Bazar, a co-leader of Mayer Brown’s global Tax Transactions & Consulting practice. “His deep understanding of international tax issues will further strengthen and expand our ability to serve the global tax needs of our clients.”

Mr. Greenwald is the third recent addition to Mayer Brown’s Tax practice, following the January arrivals of Jason Osborn, a partner in the Tax Controversy practice in Washington, DC and Mark Leeds, a partner in the Tax Transactions & Consulting practice in New York.

Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Mr. Greenwald was a partner at Sullivan & Worcester in Boston, where he headed the firm’s International Tax Practice Group. Previously, he was a partner in International Tax Services at PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Boston office.

Mr. Greenwald advises clients on tax efficient acquisitions, dispositions, reorganizations and repatriations; intellectual property planning; leveraging and other deduction planning; dual consolidated loss compliance and administrative relief; transfer pricing planning, compliance and controversy; and cross-border individual wealth planning, compliance and controversy.

A frequent writer and speaker on international tax matters, Mr. Greenwald is a member of the Board of Advisers for the Journal of International Taxation. He is the former Regional Vice President of the New England Region of The International Fiscal Association and is a member of the board of the National Foreign Trade Council. He is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and Massachusetts.

Mr. Greenwald earned a JD from Fordham Law School, an MBA from Rutgers University Graduate School of Management, and a BA from New York University.
