Patrick Duffany to lead State and Local Tax Practice at J.H Cohn

Patrick Duffany, CPA, JD, has been appointed to lead the State and Local Tax (“SALT”) practice at J.H. Cohn LLP.

Patrick, a J.H. Cohn partner who joined the Firm as a state tax partner in 2009, previously focused on assisting taxpayers with their day-to-day state tax needs, with a particular emphasis on Connecticut and New York tax matters. He succeeds Ernest J. Barbaris, CPA, who will lead the tax efforts of J.H. Cohn’s Roseland, NJ office.

Patrick has more than 20 years of experience providing guidance and assistance with day-to-day state and local tax matters, including income/franchise, sales and use, conveyance, property, and gross receipts tax filing and compliance issues and is a frequent speaker on state tax matters.

Cohn and prior, that he possesses the superior state and local tax insight that our clients demand in the face of increasingly complex and costly state tax matters,” said Kenneth J. Kanter, CPA, J.H. Cohn partner and managing director of the Firm’s Tax practice. “We are pleased that he has accepted the additional, Firm-wide responsibilities being offered to him and we look forward to continuing our partnership with him as the partner-in-charge of our burgeoning SALT practice.”

Patrick is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Connecticut Bar Association, and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA). He is the current chair of CSCPA’s State Tax Committee and also serves on the Connecticut Business and Industry Association’s state tax committee. Patrick is also a member of the board of directors of Junior Achievement of Southwest New England, a trustee of the CSCPA’s Education Trust Fund, and is a member of the CSCPA’s Advisory Council.

Patrick received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Western Connecticut State University and his Juris Doctorate degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law.
