Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP announces that [private]Kendall Jones has joined the firm as Of Counsel in the Tax Practice Group, based in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. Mr. Jones, who recently retired from KPMG, will advise clients on tax controversy matters, focusing on Internal Revenue Service (IRS) procedural, controversy and dispute resolution cases as well as tax litigation.
“Ken has a broad perspective managing and resolving federal tax controversies as a result of his years of experience at the IRS and with KPMG,” said Tax Practice Group Leader Jerome B. Libin. “Our clients will undoubtedly benefit from his accumulated wisdom in the controversy arena.”
Mr. Jones has more than 30 years experience in tax controversy matters. He is a frequent lecturer on IRS practice, procedure, controversy and tax litigation, and has appeared before numerous industry groups, trade associations and professional organizations.
Before joining Sutherland, Mr. Jones was a partner with KPMG for 18 years, first in the Washington national tax office and then as the national partner-in-charge of the tax controversy services group. He also served for 15 years with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel in various positions, including as a national office special trial attorney and as the head of the large case program. He earned his law degree from the University of San Diego Law School.[/private]
