Baker Hostetler Expands Tax Practice with Addition of Jeffry J. Erney

Baker Hostetler announced today the expansion of its Tax Practice with the addition of partner Jeffry J. Erney. Most recently, Jeff was a tax partner at Thompson Hine LLP.

Mr. Erney’s practice is focused on tax controversy and litigation. He has significant experience handling taxpayer audits, administrative appeals, litigating tax cases, advising clients on prospective transactions, and obtaining rulings and other technical guidance from the IRS National Office.

Mr. Erney has considerable tax litigation experience. He spent the first nine years of his legal career as a Senior Tax Attorney for Chief Counsel — Internal Revenue Service. For seven of those years, he was also counsel for the Utilities Industry Specialization Program. He also previously managed the IRS Practice & Procedure Group in the Cleveland, Akron/Canton and Toledo offices for one of the nation’s largest accounting firms.
